India has been a cIosed economy growing at 2-3% for most of its
existence, started opening up the economy in the 90s. This heIped
enabIe a much higher growth rate
The Indian economy is growing at around 7-9% annuaIIy, and is a huge opportunity
with its huge popuIation, and growing middIe cIass
Today, India is the fourth Iargest economy in terms of purchasing power parity, wiII
overtake Japan and become third major economic power within 10 years
By 2025
The Indian economy is projected to be about 60 per cent the size of the US
economy.
The share of the US in worId GDP is expected to faII (from 21 per cent to 18 per cent)
India's GDP wiII rise rise (from 6 per cent to 11 per cent in 2025)
India wiII emerge as the third poIe in the gIobaI economy after the US and China
By 2035
The transformation into a tri-poIar economy wiII be compIete, with the Indian
economy onIy a IittIe smaIIer than the US economy but Iarger than that of Western
Europe.
India is IikeIy to be a Iarger growth driver than the six Iargest countries in the EU,
though its impact wiII be a IittIe over haIf that of the US.
