Filters limit the results that appear when a request is run. Answers shows only those results that match filter criteria. Example: Limit the results of a request to list the customers and sales reps in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, and favorite-city variable only.

This filter limits the results to customers and sales reps in these cities.

Filters can be saved.

Drilling and Filters

Drilling in the Results tab automatically filters results. The drill path corresponds to hierarchies that are defined in the metadata.
Drill on the results page to filter on the drilled value. The filter is automatically added to criteria.

A consecutive cell for a measure displays total of all previous cells for that measure: Display feature only, with no effect on actual pivot table results Typically displayed for duplicated columns or measures showing data as a percentage

2. Select the column and operator.

To add a column, click columns in the selection pane.

3. Set the control and constraints.

The control specifies the way the user enters the prompted value. Select the Constrain option to constrain values available for selection based on a previous prompt.

4. Set defaults.

Optionally, you can set a default prompt value to report defaults, a specific value, a variable, or the results of a SQL query.
Values are selected from Regions column.

6. Create a label.

Optionally, you can enter a label for each prompt. The default behavior is to display the column name.

7. Save the prompt.

Save the prompt to the Oracle BI Presentation Catalog.

8. Add to a dashboard.

Edit the dashboard to add the prompt.

Add the prompt from the selection pane in the Dashboard Editor.

9. Test the results.

Navigate to the dashboard and test the prompt.


The myFavoriteRegion Presentation variable is populated by the Region dashboard prompt.

The Region prompt defaults to Central.

The District prompt is constrained to districts in the Central region.

Services: BI administrators can create Oracle BI Server cache for individual users. A cache seeding operation allows administrators to run requests on dashboard pages or those stored in the Oracle BI Presentation Catalog, and create an Oracle BI Server cache. Cache seeding speeds up response time for users when they actually run the requests on the dashboards. If data already exists in the cache for a given query, the data is deleted and refreshed when the iBot runs.
