• Word offers two modes for adding text to your
documents:

• Insert mode
• overtype mode

In insert mode (the default mode), the characters you


type are inserted into the text to the left of the
insertion point.
It pushes any character to the right of the insertion
point.

• If you want to replace existing text, click on the
‘insert’ button available on the key board . Then
you will be in overwrite mode

• It will erase the already existing characters.

• Default mode is “Insert “ mode.

• Moving the insertion point: In word, you
move the insertion point using

• Using the Mouse: To position the insertion point
using the mouse, simply move the mouse pointer to
where you want it and click . Use the vertical scroll bar to
move up and down through your document.

• Use the horizontal scroll bar to move within a line

number of keys strokes and key combinations to
move the insertion point through out the
document.

COMBINATIONS TO MOVE THE INSERTION POINTER

the insertion point is at beginning of a paragraph

Home To start of the current line.
Ctrl + Home To start of the document.
Page up Up one screen full of text.
Page down Down one screen full of text
Ctrl + Page up To the first character of the current screen.
Ctrl + Page down To the last character of the current screen.
DELETION OF TEXT FROM THE
DOCUMENT AND UNDO PROCESS

Procedure to delete text easily:

3. To delete the character to the left of the insertion point,


press back space.

press delete.
