Plotter
 A plotter interprets commands from the
computer to make line drawings on a paper
using multicolored automated pens
 It can be very useful in drawing graphs, bar
chats, line drawing and maps on rolls of paper
 Plotters are used to produce output containing
graphics and Pictures

 Drum Plotter
 Flat-bed Plotter

 Both types of plotters have one or more pens that
move over the paper to produce the image
 The Flat-bed plotter is less expensive and is used in
many smaller computing systems
 In this plotter, the paper is held horizontally on a flat-
bed by an electrostatic field
 The pen is moved across the surface in two
orthogonal (the x and y) directions

 The flat-bed plotter offers better line quality and
more speed

 Used with mainframe computer systems

 The pens and the drum move concurrently to

 It is an Output device used to show,or display

 It may be monochrome or color
 Most visual display units use a cathode ray
tube
 Needs a graphics card to display pictures
