Hyaluronic Acid- Key To The Fountain Of Youth
A natural sugar that gives skin fullness and elasticity that removes wrinkles and acts as a moisturizing agent. It is found in human connective tissue includes cartilage, epithelial tissue, neural tissue, extra cellular matrix.. etc.
In details..
In 1934, Karl Meyer, John Palmer isolated this substance from the vitreous body of cows eyes for the first time. Hyaluronic Acid is a type of mucopolysaccharide called glycosaminoglycan. Hyaluronic Acid is composed of N-Acetyl glucosamine and glucuronic acid.
Sources of HA
Animal products is believed to be the best natural source available.
Even most hyaluronic acid supplements are made from rooster combs. Magnesium is needed in the body to synthesize hyaluronic acid, so consuming foods rich in magnesium, like peanuts, potatoes, soy and spinach can keep hyaluronic acid levels from dropping too low.
Glucuronic acid
A carboxylic acid that binds toxins together and make them more water soluble.
It is formed in the liver, the excessive dose
N-acetylglucosamine
A monosaccharide derivative of glucose. This Polymerizes with glucuronic acid it forms the hyaluronic acid. This derivative are found in the brains of mammal.
USES: Helps in immune system functioning. Decrease the pain and inflammation, repair cartilages.
Dermal fillers..
Dermal fillers reverse of changes that are often associated with old age. This is used for injection in the dermis for the purpose of augmenting soft tissues. So HA can be used as a dermal fillers.
The two most popular filler materials used are Hyaluronic Acid and collagen.
Effects..
Excessive usage of hyaluronic acid results redness, pain, itching, tenderness and swelling at the site of injection.
Vitamin E supplements, aspirin, non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as Aleve and Motrin may increase bruising or bleeding after injection of hyaluronic acid.
Research study on HA
HA along with its biocompatibility and immunogenicity has led to its use in a number of clinical applications. Like supplementation of joint fluids in arthritis, surgical aid in eye surgery.
Most recently HA has been investigated as a
drug delivery agent for various routes of administration including ophthalmic, nasal etc.
Conclusion..
Fillers are a practical and a temporary solution to look young without undergoing major surgical procedures.
