A creed is a statement or confession of
belief or faith.
Two types of Creed: Baptismal and
Conciliar
Baptismal teaches catechumens, who are
new believers, and is a basic confession
of faith.
Conciliar creeds are official doctrines of the
church as agreed at councils.
The earlier creeds are mainly baptismal.
The most famous of these early creeds is
the Apostles' Creed.
Two Main Creeds
Apostles' Creed attributes this creed to all
twelve Apostles as a joint composition, and
assigns one phrase of the creed to each
Apostle. It seems to have developed from a
catechism used in the baptism of adults, and
in that form can be traced as far back as the
second century. The Apostles' Creed
emphasizes the birth, physical death, and
bodily Resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Nicene Creed is clearly derived from the
Apostles' Creed, and equally obviously
represents an elaboration of its basic
themes. The most outstanding additions to
this creed are much more elaborate
statements concerning Christology and the
Trinity.
Sacrament is a rite, instituted by
Christ, that mediates grace,
constituting a sacred mystery.
It is an outward sign, instituted by
Christ, that conveys an inward,

Baptism is a religious act of
purification by water usually
associated with admission to

membership of Christianity.
Eucharist is a act of worship that
most Christians perform in order to
fulfill the instruction that they believe
Jesus gave his disciples, at his last
meal with them before being turned
over to his executioners, to do "in
remembrance of him.”
Penance is repentance of sins
Confirmation we learn the
implications of our new life in the Holy
Marriage is historically ordained
by God for the lifelong union of a
man and a woman.
Holy Order is the training to
have the authority of the Church,
the imposition of a bishop’s
hands confers on a man the
grace and spiritual power to
celebrate the Church’s
sacraments.
Anointing of the Sick is the
ritual anointing, practiced in
many Christian Churches, of a
 10 commandments are a list of religious
and moral imperatives which, according to
Biblical tradition, were written by God and
given to Moses on Mount Sinai in the form
of two stone tablets. The commandments
represent the utterances of God on Mount
Sinai. There are biblical passages that also
refer to ten commandments being written
by God on stone.
THE TEN COMMANDMENTS

 I am the Lord thy God Thou shall have no other

gods before me
 Thou shall not make wrongful use of the name
of thy God
 Remember the Sabbath and keep it holy
 Honor thy Father and Mother
 Thou shall not murder
 Thou shall not commit adultery
 Thou shall not steal
 Thou shall not bear false witness
 Thou shall not covet thy neighbor's house.

 Prayer is the act of attempting to
communicate, commonly with a sequence
of words, with a deity or spirit for the
purpose of worshiping, requesting guidance,
requesting assistance, confessing sins, or to
express one's thoughts and emotions. The
words of the prayer may take the form of a
hymn, incantation, or a spontaneous
utterance in the praying person's words.
 Prayer is also the lifting of one’s mind and
heart to God it is also the heart’s response
to our search for God.
 There are different types of prayers
Memorized prayer, simple prayer ,
conversational prayer, prayers with pencil
and paper, musical prayers and
meditational.

and should be known by all Catholics is the

THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy Kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against
us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, the power and the
glory. for ever and ever. Amen
