The barrage enables water to flow through what was originally a 6166 mile long network of canals, feeding the largest irrigation system in the Asia , with more than 5 million acres (20,000 km) of irrigated land. !NOW! PROBLEMS
As Sukkur grew without any planning there have been problems and quality of life of some of the citizens has suffered.

4/29/12

Roads and transport Poor roads, No pavements and rainwater drainage system

Social problems - Traffic congestion, pollution, poor conditions in markets, industries, terminals and katchi abadis

4/29/12

POLLUTION
This is one of the main problems occurring here in Sukkur. When more people start to live in small areas or congested areas pollution happens It can be material pollution like mud, wrappers, polythene bags, etc. It can also be air pollution which is mainly caused by industries.

4/29/12

Water and sanitation

They have been the main problems , somewhere people have got their own motors which take out water from their plot ( depends if sweet ), Other government supplies are not sufficient

4/29/12

Katchi abadis
Poor and needy from suburbs hearing Sukkurs importance have shifted to Sukkur and have started to live in illegal weak settlements called katchi abadis. They also cause electricity , water problems because they make illegal connections for it.

4/29/12

Waste disposal
The problem of waste disposal has arisen because the arrangements for disposal have not kept pace with rate of growth of cities. This is also the reason of much illness. Waste is disposed wherever free space is found which leads to infectious diseases.

4/29/12

WORK DONE TILL NOW

Their have been many master plans designed till now but not any of them solved much problems. The people protest for Solving the problems like of water , electricity but they have not got what they need. As whole PAKISTAN is in severe crises SUKKUR cannot improve much in these conditions.
