POLLUTION

 POLLUTION
IS THE CONTAMINATION
OF NATURAL RESOURCES LIKE AIR,
WATER AND LAND.
TYPES OF POLLUTION

 AIRPOLLTION
 WATER POLLUTION
 LAND POLLUTION
AIR POLLUTIN
It is the occurrence of
or addition of particulate
matter, gases and other
pollutants into the air
which can be harmful to
human beings, animals,
vegetation, buildings
and other assets.
WATER POLLUTION
 Is the addition of
organic, inorganic,
biological or
radiological
substances or factor
like heat in water
which degrades its
quality so that it
becomes a health
hazard and unfit for
use.

METHODS OF PREVENTING
WATER POLLUTION
1. The sewage and factory waste should be
cleaned before they are released into
water reservoirs.
2. Reserve osmosis is the most successful
technique to get drinking water form
polluted water.
3. Recycling of waste is one of the best
methods to prevent water pollution.
Recycling is the process in which an
otherwise harmful waste products from
sewage or industrial wastes are utilized
for useful purposes.
For example; Goober gas plant.

METHODS OF PREVENTING
NOISE POLLUTION

 Maintenance of machines in good

condition and replacing worn out parts.
 Creation of parks and gardens and
planting of trees on road sides in urban
areas.
Controlling of air pollution
 Factory area should be separate and quite some
distance away from residential areas.
 Old industrial processes should be modified so that they
produces the least pollution.
 Atmospheric dilution of smoke should be effected by
increasing the height of the smoke stake.
 Automobile engines should be so designed as to reduce
the amount of uncompensated carbon and vehicles
should be fitted with exhaust emission control.
 Wet collectors should be used for mists and fogs.
 Burning of vegetable materials should be stopped.
 Smoking should be banned.
 Rules and laws regarding pollution should be very strict.
