WHAT IS SHIPPING BILL?


Shipping Bill is the main document required by the Customs Authority for allowing shipment. Shipping bill is prepared when ever you are exporting any goods from your country to another country. It is the procedural requirement which may vary from country to country. The shipping bill is prepared in the name of the exporter reflecting the goods, its quantity to be exported along with price.

It can be prepared by the exporter or its agent. The shipping bill prepared should be entered in the data base of the Customs Authorities or their authorized representatives office for authentication / approval. This process must be done in advance, before shipment.

TYPES OF SHIPPING BILL


Duty free shipping bill This type of shipping bill is printed on white paper and used for the goods for which duty is not applicable. It is also used for the goods manufactured out of material imported under the duty free import. Drawback Shipping Bill This type of shipping bill is to be used for the export of goods on which Duty Drawback is available or to be made available for fixation. It is to be printed on green paper.

Shipping Bill for Shipment of Excise Bond- This type of shipping bill is used when goods are imported for re-export and kept in bond. This is to be printed on blue paper. Coastal Shipping Bill This is used for shipment of goods from one port to another by sea within India. Dutiable Shipping bill - This type of shipping bill is used for the goods subject to export duty on which duty drawback will be either allowed or not allowed. This is to be printed on yellow paper.

Shipping Bill Number & Date Exporter/ Consignee/ C.H.Agent/ Vessel/ Port Of Landing/ Port Of Discharge Sr.no.mark & nos./ Statistical Code/ N.W/ G.W Currency Of Invoice/ F.O.B Value Declaration-Signature On The Reverse- M.R/ Bill no. Shipment Certificate/ Loading On Vessels

PROCESSING OF SHIPPING BILL


The following are the documents required for the processing of shipping bill: GR forms (in duplicate) for shipment to all the countries. 4 copies of the packing list mentioning the contents, quantity, gross and net weight of each package. 4 copies of invoices which contains all relevant particulars like number of packages, quantity, unit rate, total f.o.b./ c.i.f. value, correct & full description of goods etc. Contract, L/C, Purchase Order of the overseas buyer. AR4 (both original and duplicate) and invoice. Inspection/ Examination Certificate.
