Load will be transferred by physical contact between members within the structures. Load path is a path through which the load is transmitted to the foundations.
Load due to furniture, equipments, activities and self weight of slabs will act on the slabs.
The load carried by the slabs will transfer to surrounding beams. The load will transfer either in one way or two ways.
The load carried by secondary beams will transfer to primary beams. The load from primary beams will transfer to columns.
The load path in simple framed building may be identified by simple logic, while load path in more complex framed building will require numerical methods such as finite element method. The objective of identifying load path in framed buildings is to determine the critical stress for each member and compare with that members strength.
1) What are the 2 conditions we assumed when we are analyzing framed buildings? 2) What is the typical load path in a simple framed building? 3) What is the objective of identifying load path in framed buildings?
