The Monsanto Company is a U.S company Based on multinational agricultural biotechnology corporation. Founded at St. Louis, Missouri, U.S. in 1901 Founded by John Francis Queeny Chairman: Hugh Grant Headquarters are at Creve Coeur, Missouri, U.S.

Mainly deals in herbicides, pesticides and crop seeds. 21,035 employees 404 facilities in 66 countries. In U.S. 10,317 employees are there n 146 facilities in 33 states.

HISTORY
1901 John F. Queeny founds the original Monsanto. His wife was Olga Monsanto Queeny. The first product of that company was saccharine. 1945 The original Monsanto produces and markets agricultural chemicals, including 2,4D. After that Agriculture Division was established.

Monsanto announces Project SHARE (Sustainable Harvest - Agriculture, Resources, Environment) a sustainable yield initiative to improve farmer lives in India. Project SHARE, a pilot project in association with ISAP (Indian Society of Agribusiness Professionals), aims to improve the socio-economic conditions of 10,000 small-marginal cotton and corn farmers in 1,100 villages across within four years, by increasing their crop productivity.

In India, Monsanto is present under three entities: Monsanto India Limited (MIL) A subsidiary of the parent company, MIL is the only publicly listed Monsanto company outside USA; Focuses on maize seeds - Dekalb, India's largest selling hybrid maize seed brand) and agricultural productivity - Roundup, the world's and India's largest selling glyphosate herbicide.

Monsanto Holdings Private Limited (MHPL) 100% wholly-owned subsidiary of Monsanto Company; and 26% Stake in Mahyco, focused on marketing Paras cotton hybrid seeds withBollgard and Bollgard Btcotton technologies, and Seminisvegetable hybrid seeds.

Mahyco Monsanto Biotech (India) Limited (MMB) 50:50 Joint Venture between Mahyco and MHPL, which markets Bollgard and Bollgard II Bt cotton technologies to seed companies.
