‡ Brunswick deals in multiple products . Its view
to improve its supply chain. He is a eager to
simplify its manufacturing operations. To do so,
the Company is looking at upgrading and
improving its various Supply Chain system.

‡ Currently company uses several homemade
warehouse management systems in various parts
of the company, as well as i2 Technologies
Inc.¶s Factory Planner software in its outboard
manufacturing plant.

‡ Supply chain are, by definition a kludge of
systems, comprising software for manufacturing,
warehousing, inventory control, planning,
shipping, and logistics.

‡ Supply chain has now become a very important

function for any company because company see
the chance not only squeeze out cost but also use
efficient & effective supply chain to bump up
Sell.

‡ They also involve intimate relationships with
supplier and partners, and , on the front end, an
increasing dependence on the input of customer.

‡ All issue relating to supply chain can¶t be solved

with supply chain application. Brunswick is
attempting to gain control over the various
systems in its supply chain by getting a better
grip on the data they generate.

‡ The product are generally of two types:

companies decide which product to built and
when, based on forecast, orders, capacity, and
resources.

‡ ERP vendors such as Oracle, PeopleSoft, and
SAP have been adding supply chain elements to
their product lines to help fuel growth in a slow-
moving market. These vendors enjoy the
advantage of providing systems that control
other backend functions and the data they
generate.

‡ Whirlpool would like to work with a single
vendor to provide the bulk of its supply chain
needs, and SAP is its vendor of choice.
‡ Whirlpool plans to update the i2 planning
applications that it uses in the United States, and
implementing SAP¶s Advanced Planning and
Optimization software in its Europen operations
to help customer in that region better plan for
demand by analyzing point-of-sale, inventory,
and receivable data.

‡ Whirlpool¶s increasing investment in SAP,
instead of a wide variety of vendor, is strategic.
We can get more leverage, we have a say in
upcoming products, and it makes every thing
easier in terms of maintenance and training,

‡ Considering the companies like Brunswick which has a long line of

products and World¶s best home appliances maker Whirlpool, SCM
is a major player in their growth. Identifying the need of a particular
product in the complex supply system should be accurate and time
bound. Availability of product in market is key to business. Many
companies are launching new products, devoting money and
attention in advertising but fails to deliver product to customer in
stores or finally to customers. Whirlpool adopted the most popular
SAP software for the supply chain management, the innovator and
leader in SCM plate forms. Acquiring SAP supported SCM system

‡ Yes! I feel business value is the only core criteria to exploit the SCM
business value. Best example of SCM value is WalMart retails
In Canada, Walmart exclusively used SCM to increase its projected
growth rate. It includes constructing new stores and managing their
demand and supply in accurate manner. It is fascinating to learn that
Distributing 16,000 Cartons per Hour with Accuracy and Expediency
by Walmart is a result of Key protocols of SCM Inc. distribution
network. However, services oriented firms mainly rely on providing
services in a contract or time manner so the business value of SCM in
such firms (like telecommunication) are limited to basic supplies
(phones, peripherals etc.).
