 HOW DID YOU GO ABOUT IDENTIFYING
THIS PROBLEM?
WOMEN EMPOWERMENT

• There is a great woman the Bible talks

about in Proverbs 31 but most of us are
not able to live up to that type of a
woman.

• We realised there is cultural and social

issues that affect us negatively as
women eg. Abuse, poverty etc.

• This problem brings about vulnerability

and disempowers women from being
assertive in shaping their future and
that of their children.

• Again this problem exposes them to

criminal behavior and or prostitution.

 HOW ARE YOU GOING ABOUT
ADDRESSING THI S PROBLEM?
WOMEN EMPOWERMENT

• DWC is giving women hope and reducing their

vulnerability by meeting their basic needs like clothing
and bathing utensils.

• Some of our members are going through an arts and

crafts training with the hope to train these women we
are reaching out to so as to help them generate income
for themselves.

 WHAT IS THE TIME-FRAME FOR THE
PROJECT?

• We believe that as long as there are

vulnerable and disadvantaged women
DWC will be there to lend a hand and
help them therefore this is a
continuous project.

• Women in prison and former inmates and

teenage mothers

• People who are involved in this project are

the Clubs members, Partners and friends

• We do not have men as members but they

are only involved in this project as partners
and friends.

• In the 4 years of operation DWC

depends on voluntary support and
members’ contribution.

 MONITORING AND EVALUATION
WOMEN EMPOWERMENT

• Reports are written to document the number

of beneficiaries and the annual report is the
summation of all initiatives achieved.

• An evaluation of the foundation stage of

implementation in the last 4 years is being
evaluated to improve and to inform
corrective actions in AGM 2001 meeting.

• DWC is regarded as a friend to these

women as it offers support for women
to make a fresh start in life. And these
women testify to the friendship they
have never experienced.

PROTOCOL TARGETS)

• Article 19 – Equal Access to Employment and Benefits:

vulnerable women have been disadvantaged by their
background and other social issues, these pushed
them towards criminal behavior but they deserve a
second chance to access employment and make a
living so that their lives can turn around.

• Article 23 – Support Services: In partnership with

Correctional and Rehabilitation facilities a network of
support is build for women not to engage in criminal
behavior and those that have to turn a new leaf .

 EFFECTIVENESS
WOMEN EMPOWERMENT

• DWC projects give hope, mentoring and peer support to

vulnerable women to aspire for a better life instead of
resorting to negative and criminal behaviour.

• DWC also mobilises members and friends to be concerned

about the wellbeing of others and motivate them to give for a
better future for others, especially women, who in turn will
impact the future of their children.

 SUSTAINABILITY AND REPLICATION
WOMEN EMPOWERMENT

• As long as there will be vulnerable and

disadvantaged women as DWC we will try
by all means to make sure they get help
because helping them is something that
comes from our hearts.
• Most of our volunteers are impacted by
the initiative also members moving to
other areas continue to do the same in
the areas they live in or move to.

• Accountability remains a key lesson to

efficiency as DWC is a link from a giver or
sponsor to a woman in need.
