NEW POLICY ON EDUCATION

GOALS :-

 Intellectual and aesthetic development of personality.


 Inculcation of moral and social values.
 Development of self confidence.
 Creation of an awareness of the physical, social, technological,
economic and cultural environment.
 Promotion of international understanding.
YOUTH ORGANISATION

Various youth services have been developed to


enable the youth to improve their skills and
personality for their effective participation in the
process of development. Some organizations are-

 Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP).


 Nehru Yuva Kendras (NYKs).
 National Youth Festival.
AKHIL BHARTIYA VIDYARTHI PARISHAD
(ABVP)

 Founded in 1948 &


formally registered on July
9, 1949.
 Main organiser in 1958
was Prof. Yeshwantrao
Kelkar.
 Today, ABVP is the largest
student organisation in
India.

OBJECTIVES OF ABVP

 Objective of channelising  Bring awareness and


student’s energies in the task of responsibilities among the
national reconstruction. poor and less fortunate in
remote areas of India.
 Project and programs aimed at
National Integration.
 Social Consciousness
programs to solve the
economic and other problems
of students.
 Programs to encourage the
hidden talents of students.
NEHRU YUVA KENDRAs (NYKs)

 A scheme to serve the non-


student and rural youth.
 Started in 1972 with 30
Kendras.
 At present, it has Kendras in
501 districts with a network of
about 0.25 million youth clubs
in as many villages.

OBJECTIVES OF NYKs

 To instill in the youth a deep awareness & respect for the principles
and values enshrined in our Constitution.
 To promote among the youth the awareness of our historical and
cultural heritage.
 To help develop in the youth qualities of discipline, self-reliance,
justice and fair-play etc.
 To make the youth aware of international issues & involve them in
promoting world peace.
NATIONAL YOUTH FESTIVAL
 Swami Vivekananda’s birthday on Jan. 12
is always celebrated as National Youth
Day, and the week as National Youth
Week.
 An event of the Ministry of Youth Affairs
and Sports.
 The Govt. of India holds the National Youth
Festival every year.
 It is celebrated annually in one of the
states in a joint venture.

LATEST NEWS :
TO PROPAGATE :  The 16th National Youth
 Concept of National Integration. festival was held at
 Spirit of Communal Harmony.
Udaipur in Rajasthan.
 Brotherhood.
 Courage.
 Adventure

their cultural powers.
National Cadet Corps (NCC)
 The NCC in India was formed with
the National Cadet Corps Act of
1948.
 It came into existence on 15 July
1948.
AIMS :
 Promote self-discipline, develop qualities of
character, courage, comradeship,
leadership, secular outlook.
 Be always available for the service of the
Nation.

ACTIVITIES AND STRUCTURE OF NCC

ACTIVITIES :  Each wing has its own


Uniform and Wing Flag.
 Adventure oriented activities.
 In each NCC wing, there
 Youth exchange programmes. is an officer command.
 Social Service activities.  Under whom there may
be Captains, Subedar-
