UNEMPLOYMENT RATE IN
BANGLADESH FROM 2007 TO 2008

3.956
(2007)

3.046
(2008)
UNEMPLOYMENT RATE IN 2007
 In2007 the employment rate in
Bangladesh is 3.956 means it is high from
average line which is 3.52 ,it is just
because in Bangladesh more people of
working age than non working age people
it means 65% of population are of working
age from 18 years to 60 years. The reason
behind this is n 2007 the inflation rate is
increase from 7.0 to 9.1 percent so it is
an aftermath of contactionary policy or
you can say that fiscal policy.
Bangladesh was unable to
exploit the full potential as it
can not create adequate
number of jobs for the
working-age population,
according to economists and
population scientists.
UNEMPLOYMENT RATE IN 2008
 In2008 the unemployment rate was
3.046 means it is below from
average that is 3.52. The reason
behind this is Government starting
new policies for reducing
unemployment that is developing
human resource and starting small
industries specially in rural areas.

UNEMPLOYMENT RATE IN
BANGLADESH FROM 2009-2011

(2009)

4.53
4.502
(2010)
(2011)
UNEMPLOYMENT RATE OF
BANGLADESH IN 2009
 Reasons;
 Unemployment rate in Bangladesh decreased from 4.50%
in 2010 from 5.10% in 2009.
 According to survey, 2009 the unemployment rate reached
to 5.1%, the highest in the last 20 years and average 5
years inflation rate was also highest in last 20 years.
 Unemployment rate is preventing access of general
people into income source on an average workers are
loosing Tk.
 384.04 per month of their nominal earning due to the
effect of inflation in 2009.
 In the year 2009, unemployment rate was stable but
inflation rate decrease a little bit so we are considering it
as alternate of contractionary policy.
UNEMPLOYMENT RATE OF
BANGLADESH IN 2010.
 Under employment increased from 16.6%
to 20.3% during 2000 to 2010. During this
period 20.1 million new labor joined the
labor force.
 In 2010 the rate of employment increased
but the rate of unemployment was also
increased and stood at 4.5% .
 In the year 2010 unemployment rate
increased at 5.10% in inflation rate
decreased at 5.4% so it is clear that it is
contractionary policy.
UNEMPLOYMENT RATE OF
BANGLADESH IN 2011
 Variation of unemployment is 4.502 from
2010 to 2011.
 Bangladesh as a rather high rate of inflation
10.2 % ( may of 2011) also provide a vital
role in unemployment .
 Minimum wage law and labor union working
for efficiency wages also reasons for
unemployment.

UNEMPOLYMENT RATE OF
BANGLADESH FROM 2012-2014

4.5%
(2012)

4.26% 4.239%
(2013) (2014)
UNEMPOLYMENT RATE OF
BANGLADESH IN 2012
 Bangladesh unemployment rate in 2012 is
4.5% which is decreased value from last year
2011.
 The reason for that is inflation because
inflation increases and unemployement
decreases or vice versa.
 And second reason is lack socialization and
industrial backwardness.
 The population growth is also a reason for
that unemployement rate. When
unemployement rate becomes high.
UNEMPLOYMENT RATE OF
BANGLADESH OF 2013 AND 2014
 Bangladesh population under 30 years of age makes
up 60% of the total labor force.
 Unemployment in 2013 and 2014 has little bit
change. In 2013 the unemployment rate is 4.3 % and
2014 the rate is 4.2%
 The reason of this is here government play major
role to provide jobs and improvement of labor force
occurred.
 During the period of growth output rises increasing
the demand for labor and there by decreasing the
unemployment.
 Here inflation is also reason for it due to inverse
relationship with unemployment.

some government policy

CONCLUSION
 Unemployment is a great curse to nation. We
can not expect the development of our
country leaving its millions of people to
survive as a boastful nation . We should
make all out efforts to get rid of this curse .
Analysis of this study tries to indicate this
phenomena focusing of the skills or
qualification (apart from degree ,
certificate, and diploma) that are considered
as important for graduates employability by
the corporate bodies of Bangladesh.
