Penicillium Notatum

Penicillium notatum, also known as penicillium chrysogenum, is the original source for the penicillin, which was first
discovered by Sir Alexander Fleming in 1928 and saved millions of lives.

Penicillium notatum is a species of fungus that comes from a branch of the family trichocomaceae, it is a kind of
mold common in temperate and subtropical regions, its found on stale bread, fruits and nuts and also used for
production of green and blue mold cheese, it´s reproduction is based on forming dry chains of spores from brushed-
like shaped conidiophores.

First, the discovery of the penicillin was a major scientific break through which was almost accidental, that allowed
doctors to have an effective way to treat bacterial illnesses properly; the importance of the penicillium notatum is
found on the use on the industrialized production of penicillin and xanthocillin x, to produce the enzymes polyamine
oxidase and glucose oxidase.
Food chain The fungi has a very important role, they are,
as their tittle names them, "Decomposers",
they are in charge of decomposing very
complex organic compounds and returning all
of the minerals to the soil and gasses to the air,
and with this ensuring that the new
generations of plants and animals will get the
nutrients that they need for the cycle to
continue.

Protist Disease

Leishmania tropica Leishmaniasis is a disease that typically lives on infected sand flies
which tend to reside in tropical and subtropical environments; this
disease has three forms caused by the different species of the
parasite; the cutaneous Leishmaniasis affects your skin, normally
this form is the least threatening one, then we have visceral
Leishmaniasis which can damage your internal organs and can be
life-threatening and is also known as kala azar; and finally,
mucocutaneus Leishmaniasis, the most dangerous out of the three,
this form of disease can lead to partial of complete destruction of
the mucous membranes found in your nose, throat and mouth.
fatal epidemics of this disease have happened on numerous areas of
Africa.
Naegleria fowleri The disease caused by naegleria fowleri is known as the
primary amebic meningoencephalitis, this disease is truly a
mouthful so we will refer to it as PAM; this is a rather weird
disease and is almost all of the times fatal to the affected, one
becomes infected when water infected with naegleria fowleri
goes up the nose of the person and the ameba migrates to the
brain alongside the olfactory nerve; the stages that the infected
goes through are the following: first stage include severe
frontal headache, nausea and vomiting and the second stage is
where things escalate very quickly, with stiff neck, seizures,
altered mental status, hallucinations coma, and in most cases
death.
Trypanosma cruzi Chagas disease is transmitted to humans through a bite from
an insect with the name of triatomine bug; this insects live
primary in mud on Mexico, Central and South America.
there are two phases, the acute phase where swelling at the
infection site, fever, fatigue, rash, body aches and some other
symptoms appear, still not highly notizable; then comes the
chronic phase which will occur from 10 to 20 years after the
initial infection or may not ever appear at all; here you can
suffer from irregular heartbeat, congestive heart failure,
sudden cardiac arrest, difficulty swallowing due to enlarged
esophagus and some other cases of symptoms.
Entamoeba histolytica  Amebiasis is a disease common in tropical countries with bad
hygine, like India, some parts of Central and South America and
some parts of Africa.
A person can be infected by ingesting cysts through food or
water, and can also enter the body through direct contact with
fecal matter; this parasite causes bloody diarrhea, colitis and
tissue destruction; if ths disease invades the internal organ they
can cause abscesses, infections, severe illness and in he worst
cases death.
Giardia lamblia Giardiasis is an infection placed in the small intestine, this is
caught by eating contaminated food or drinking contaminated
water; some symptoms are fatigue, nausea, diarrhea, vomiting,
weight loss, headaches; this disease can lead to complications
like weight loss and dehydration.
CONCLUSION

This exercise has thought me so many new things that I didn´t know before, the uses and All of
the things that involve a bacteria or infection, where they belong to, kingdom-wise And also this
helped me remember all of the previous knowledge i had gathered in the Past and reminded me of
this stored information, making it easier for me to understand Fully what goes on behind the
process of the diseases and why they react the way they do; also it was very informative to know
and to discover the different diseases, their origin, transmition and their effects on the people who
have it.
THANK YOU!
