Once you know your interviewing AAB member, one week before the mock
interviews you must – email them (1) the position you’re interviewing for, (2) your
resume, and (3) your LinkedIn URL
If you have difficulty choosing an interview position, come talk to me
Be sure to research the position you choose a bit
DO’S OF CREATING
PORTFOLIO
Keep it simple/clean
Formatting background
Text – font, point size, color
Create a color scheme or try to create a consistent design scheme
Put your name, that you’re a TAMU student, provide some “about me info”,
resume (but not copy/pasted), and artifacts (the examples)
Add contact info: email, phone number, social media if appropriate, link to
LinkedIn profile
Remember everything you post becomes public info
Don’t copy/paste resume – you can have a file employers can download, but you
should present this info in a more eye catching way on the website
Low resolution photos
Cluttered color scheme, backgrounds, fonts
WHAT TO PUT IN NOW
Examples of Competencies in:
Communication (oral, written, visual)
Collaboration (working with others to achieve a goal)
Critical Problem Solving (identifying a problem, analyzing, acting)
Culture (organizational, international)
Skills (hard and soft)
ADDING A BLOG
Not a “Dear Diary…” kind of thing about what you ate today
Try to find a purpose related to what interests you and what might interest an
employer
Food blog, Travel Blog, Movie/Book Reviews, or Reflection
Avoid getting political
Get feedback
Come show me
Show friends/family
Show other instructors
Show AAB-members
***and expect to get advice/constructive criticism
