Who was Ashoka?
Ashoka the Great was the third king of the Mauryan Empire (322-
185 BCE) best known for his giving up (or rejection)
of war, development of the idea of dhamma (religious social conduct), and promotion of Buddhi
sm as well as his effective rule of a nearly pan-Indian political entity ( thing/business ) .
At its height, under Ashoka, the Mauryan Empire stretched from modern-
day Iran through almost all
of the Indian subcontinent. Ashoka was able to rule this huge empire at
first through the rules of the political written work known as the Arthashastra
How did Ashoka become so famous?

Ashoka's fame is mostly due to his (tall supporting post/important


part) and rock laws, which allowed him to reach a wide audience and left a lasting historical reco
rd. He is remembered as a model ruler, controlling a huge and (many different kinds of people or

systems.

mma throughout the world as he thought that if is violent to kill other people and the families of
 these dead  people have to suffer a lot so he became a Buddhist to.
