Designing Instruction in the


Different Learning Delivery
Modalities
Lesson Design Components - it includes aims and objectives of the course, teaching and learning activities
and assessments to check student understanding of the topic.
Learning Materials – are any collection of materials that a teacher may use in teaching and learning
situations to help achieve desired learning objectives.
Learning Tasks – these are formative learning opportunities given to learners to engage them in the subject
matter and to enhance their understanding of the content.
Formative Assessment – it includes range of continuous formal and informal assessment conducted in order
to modify teaching and learning activities to improve students attainment. Its goal is to monitor student
learning to provide ongoing feedback in identifying students strengths and weaknesses.
Summative Assessment – refers to the assessment of learners where the focus is the outcome of the teaching
and learning process. Its goal is to evaluate student learning at the end of an instructional instruction. It seeks
to monitor educational outcomes, often for purposes of external accountability.
Portfolio – a folder containing a student’s best output, that exhibits efforts , progress and achievements.

 In line with the implementation of Republic Act (RA) No. 10533
or the Enhanced Basic Education Act of 2013, the Department of
Education (DepEd) issues the enclosed Policy Guidelines on Daily
Lesson Preparation for the K to 12 Basic Education Program.

PROGRAM
Planning lessons is fundamental to ensuring the delivery of
teaching and learning in schools. These guidelines aim to support
teachers in organizing and managing their classes and lessons
effectively and efficiently and ensure the achievement of learning
outcomes.

Furthermore, these guidelines affirm the role of the K to 12 teacher as a facilitator of
learning. Preparing for lessons through the Daily Lesson Log (DLL) or Detailed Lesson Plan
(DLP) and provides teachers with an opportunity for reflection on what learners need to
learn, how learners learn, and how best to facilitate the learning process. These guidelines
also aim to empower teachers to carry out quality instruction that recognizes the diversity
of learners inside the classroom, is committed to learners’ success, allows the use of varied
instructional and formative assessment strategies including the use of information and
communications technologies (ICTs), and enables the teacher to guide, mentor, and support
learners in developing and assessing their learning across the curriculum.

1. What is Lesson Designing or Lesson Planning? ANSWER:


Lesson Designing or Lesson Planning is a teacher’s preparation on
how and what the week would be . It provides the teacher a general outline
of our teaching goals, learning objectives and means of accomplishing each
objective . It is the blueprint of the teacher in the teaching and learning
process.

Lesson designing is important in a sense that it serves as the
teachers guide to have a smooth lesson delivery.

ACTIVITY 2
The second component of a well –designed lesson
asks teachers to select and sequence teaching and
learning activities that would help learners meet the
learning objectives. These learning tasks can be
presented (1) before the lesson, (2) during the lesson
proper, and (3) after the lesson.
