Vama asked Samudra to give


way to Lanka. Samudra
expressed his inability and
advised him to take help from
Nala the son of Viswakarma
(Chief Engineer and Chief
Architect for Devas) to build a
bridge across the sea.

Vama requested Nala to build the bridge.


With the guidance of Nala the
Vanaras brought boulders from
mountains, Sala trees from forest
and made the bridge in five days.
A Distance of 112 Yojanas (180 KM?).

of 14 Yojanas.

This part is
made mainly of
mountain rocks.

bridge a length
of 20 Yojanas.

made of floating Sala trees tied by ropes, anchored by boulders
