• Those resources which are replenished fast and are not affected by human
activity.

• More than 85% of the energy used in the world is from Nonrenewable supplies.
• Most developed nations are dependent on nonrenewable energy sources.
• Those resources cannot simply be substituted or recovered once they have been
utilized or destroyed and are affected by human activity.

Value of natural resources

• Economic value : Production of things from natural resources.

• Legal value : Clean air, Fresh water, Healthy animal and human beings.

• Aesthetic value : Beauty of village, Ponds and their agricultural fields


Uses of natural Resources
• We heavily adding on natural resources.
• Everyone used natural resources directly or indirectly.
• Our most basic needs depend on resources.
• State of the country affect on the natural resources.

 Water : Drink, Used in household, Agriculture and Transportation.


 Solar light : Provide light, Energy and help to plants for making their foods.
 Soil : Used as the primary nutrient source for plants.
 Air : Required for all living things for breathing, Producing wind energy.
 Animals/
Plants : Provide food, Cloths, Shelter, Medicine, Animal dung can be used as
fuels.
Threats to natural resources
 Overpopulation : This often causes over exploitation of the natural resources.
(Arable land, coral reefs, fresh water, petroleum derivative, forests)
: The severe adjustments in local weather patterns as a result of
human uses and overpopulation.

 Environmental pollution : Toxic substances and chemicals from industries.


: Homemade utilities.
: Producing greenhouse gases and carbon dioxide emissions threaten
biodiversity and many other natural resources.
: Land, Air and Water pollution pose long term cumulative impacts
on the natural resources and the quality of the environmental.
Policy Gaps

 Lack of local community participation.


 Need for providing institutional support like banks.
 Need for political commitment.
 Inadequate enforcement of existing laws.
