INTRODUCTION RESULTS
The Machadinho - RO basin, located in the region of the arch of deforestation,
underwent intense anthropization in the last decades, where the conversion of
extensive forest areas into fields destined to agropastoral activities, caused
considerable impacts on the water bodies.

OBJECTIVES
The present work evaluates the sensitivity and performance of the SWAT model for its
application in the river basin Machadinho - RO to analyze the corresponding fluvial
dynamics in the face of the scarcity of hydrological and meteorological measurements.

METHODOLOGY
The water catchment area of the Machadinho river (Figure 1) is totally inserted in the
state of Rondônia and is part of the group of the main basins of the state. This basin is
located in the Western Amazon, between the parallels of 09º 01 'and 10º 12' south
latitude and meridians of 61º 39 'and 62º 49' west longitude. It is located in the center-
east portion of Rondônia, covering an area of 5,485.41 km², which is included in the
domain of four municipalities, including Machadinho d'Oeste, Vale do Anari, Ariquemes
and Theobroma.

The model presented a good performance in the estimation of flow production, since
for the present study, a COE value of 0.8055 and r² of 0.8077 was obtained in the
calibration, while, in the validation, COE values were obtained equal to 0.544 and r
equal to 0.722.
A database was constructed composed of climate information, topography, use and
classification of the soil from the use of orbital platforms, simulating, then, the period CONCLUSIONS

covers the area of study. Afterwards, the model was calibrated and validated for the The SWAT model can be applied in basins of the Western Amazon with the same
