Project Safety Management

 Safety is the most important aspect in any


kind of a project.
 'Safety first' should be a key element of
project management because it affects all
the project management knowledge
areas outlined in a guide to the PMBOK.
 Safety must be integrated into all aspects
of project to ensure project success.
DEVELOPMENT PHASE
• Cross-cultural exchange between two countries as a challenging
task.

• Two different countries with different languages led by two


different managing directors did the planning.

• Project team done a reasonable job in planning the technical


equipment keeping in view the complexity of the tunnel.

• IGC mandated higher of two standards to be selected which in


turn resulted in delay of schedule.

• The IGC insisted on design changes to improve safety, such as


wider fire doors connecting the shuttle carriages.

• Health, safety and Environmental issues identified includes


public opposition, land acquisition, impacts on habitats and
species, hydrological conditions, soil disposal and noise
pollution.
