What are
Reading
There are three different
styles of reading:
skimming, scanning, and
intensive reading.
It is reading swiftly or
Skimming
glancing quickly through
a book or an article to
find facts.
In Skimming you should do the
following:
• Read rapidly.
• Keep going, don’t look back.
• Slide over unimportant words.
• Do not try to remember everything.
• Stop until you find the right idea.

Scanning is a reading
Scanning
technique used to look for
specific information.
These reminders will help you when you
scan.
1. Decide what kind of information you are
looking for.
2. Look only for the information.
3. Let your eyes flow down the page
following a set of patterns.
4. Stop at the sentence which you think has
the answer.
5.Write the answer.
