 To report : Update an audience on a project or event. Ex –
Sales manager provides a monthly report of actual sales
against targets
 To explain – Detailing how to carry out a process. Ex –
Sales manager shows the sales executives how to
accurately complete expense reports
 To persuade – Convincing the audience to purchase
something
 To motivate – Inspiring the audience to take some action.
Ex- At a monthly sales meeting, the sales manager gets the
executives excited about a new incentive plan.
