INTRODUCTION TO BUSINESS WRITING


WHAT IS BUSINESS WRITING

 It is a written form of communication used to


channel vital business information to
person/organization concern. It is therefore very
important in every organization to acquire and
practice good Business Writing Skills.
FORMS OF COMMUNICATION

 SIGN & GESTURE – Body Language, actions


 ORAL – Verbal, face-to-face or through phone
 WRITTEN – Business Writing, Memo, letter, etc
ADVANTAGES OF WRITTEN MESSAGE

 They provide a permanent record of messages or information. For


instance, a transaction or agreement: for confirmation and recollection of
details. Evidence may also be necessary in legal affairs
 They provide confirmation and clarification of verbal messages, again in
case evidence may be needed and at the same time as an aid to memory
 They are easily duplicated and sent to numerous recipients, this ensures
that information, operational instruction will be consistent. It also enables
office personnel to write one message instead of making numerous phone
calls.
 They are capable of relaying complex ideas, , aided by suitable layout and
permanence of record.
 Helps to seek funds by writing proposal
 Presents the financial position and performance of an organization by
writing Financial reports
