Fundamental Inceptions
Meaning of Design
Principle
• Principles;
• are general rules and
guidelines, intended to be
enduring and seldom
amended, that inform and
support the way in which an
organization sets about
fulfilling its mission.
• It may be just one element in a
structured set of ideas that
collectively define and guide
the organization, from values
through to actions and results.
•  are a general rule or
guideline for
designing a system.
Meaning of Design
Principle
• Design Principle is an important
task in interpreting communal
variations is to understand these
changes as well as to understand
the space in which these changes
are made.
• It could be surmised that the
concept of architecture has been
around since the first building was
erected and its practice one of
man's most universal and
elementary activities.

A final relevant use of architecture most common in

the modern world is the mediation of a new mode
of distracted perception.

and

concept of
visual
perception for
structuring an
aesthetic
Composition.

Axis and
Symmetry
Definitions
Axis:
•A straight line to Which elements in a
composition are referred for
measurement or symmetry.
Symmetry:
•The exact correspondence in size,
form, and arrangement of parts of
opposite sides of a dividing line or
plane, or about a center or axis.
Axis of symmetry:
•An imaginary line about which a
figure, body, or composition is
symmetrical.
Types of “Symmetry”
local symmetry
•A symmetrical condition
occurring in one part of a design,
often serving to center an
irregular pattern.
Bilateral symmetry
•Symmetry resulting from the
arrangement of similar parts on
opposite sides of a median axis.
radial symmetry
•Symmetry resulting from the
arrangement of similar, radiating
parts about a center point or
central axis.
Movement in
Design
Meaning of Movement
The rhythmic quality or
character of a
composition suggesting
motion by represented
gestures or by the
relationship of
structural elements.
rhythm
•Movement
characterized by a
patterned repetition or
alternation of formal
elements or motifs in a
design.
Direction Movement

•The line along which something is

moving, pointing, or facing, with
reference to the point toward
which it is directed.
Gradation Movement
A process or change
taking place by
degrees or through a
series of gradual,
successive stages.
Repetition Movement
The act or process of repeating formal elements or motifs in a design.
Concatenation Movement
A series of linked or interconnected things or events.
