WHAT IS ACOHOLISM?

Alcoholism is a chronic disease characterized by


uncontrolled alcohol intake and concern about
consumption. Alcoholism is the inability to control alcohol
consumption due to physical and emotional dependence.

4. Delta type alcoholism


The subjects included in this category also present an addiction to alcohol, presenting inability to
maintain abstinence but without presenting a loss of control when drinking. In other words, they need
to drink regularly, but without becoming drunk.

5. Epsilon-type alcoholism
The so-called periodic alcoholism occurs in subjects who present loss of control when drinking
and behavioral problems, but consume sporadically, spending long periods between taking and taking.

-Disulfiram: Causes unpleasant symptoms like nausea and redness of the skin every time you drink

systems to reduce your cravings, especially right after you have stopped drinking

• Cognitive behavioral therapy helps identify feelings and situations that can lead to excessive
alcohol consumption.
• Motivational Enhancement Therapy (or Motivational Stimulation Therapy) helps build and
strengthen motivation to change your drinking habit.
• Marriage and family counseling includes spouses and other family members. It can help repair
and improve your family relationships.
• Brief interventions are short, individual or small group counseling sessions. They include
between one to four sessions.
