Introduction to society, communication,
and education
Education
It is a process of facilitating learning, or the acquisition of knowledge,
skills, values, beliefs, and habits.

Educational methods include

• Storytelling
• Discussion
•  teaching
•  training, and directed research.

4
• Education frequently takes place under the guidance of educators,
but learners may also educate themselves.

•  Education can take place in formal or informal settings and any

experience that has a formative effect on the way one thinks,
feels, or acts may be considered educational. The methodology of
teaching is called pedagogy.

• Formal education is commonly divided formally into such stages

as preschool or kindergarten, primary school, secondary school
and then college, university, or apprenticeship.

5
The relationship between
society, communication and
education
There is a strong relationship between education and society.
(sociologist)
This is because of the fact that what happens to the educational
system undoubtedly affects the society.

Education is a sub-system of the society.

They are inter-related internally, so that a given education system

has unity and consistency, and also externally so that the education
system reflects the society’s moral and intellectual values.

7
Education system is not the same, as know two societies are
identical. Therefore, education systems differ from society to society
and their aims, contents and techniques, also from one society to
another.

Educational institutions are micro-societies, which mirror the entire

society.

8
 First universal function of education is to socialize the members of society
and transmit the culture to the next generation.
 Second is to fulfill society’s needs pertaining to human resource.

Major socializing agencies are community, family, peer group and formal
educational institutions. Besides this, there are many other functions of
education are social mobility and intergenerational change. Present democratic
system based on the principle of equal opportunity, competition and
achievement, therefore, any educated and competent can enhance his/ her
status.

1. Impact of
education in
the society
15
Education has become one of the clearest indicators of life outcomes
such as:

 employment,
 income and
 social status, and
 is a strong predictor of attitudes and wellbeing.

Most of the positive effects of education are linked to the benefits

associated with achieving a university education.

16
However, the emphasis on education in today’s society makes it much
harder for people with low levels of education to develop a positive
social identity. This can negatively affect self-esteem and wellbeing.

The negative impact of rising tuition fees on higher education

applications should be addressed and counteracted, at the least by
capping the fee at the current level. Alternative models of funding
higher education should also be considered.

17
Education is fundamental to sustainable development, it is a powerful driver of
development and one of the strongest instruments for reducing poverty and
improving health; it enables people to be:
 more productive,
 to earn a better living
 enjoy a better quality of life
 also contributing to a country’s overall economic growth.

Education is critical for breaking the poverty cycle and its importance is
reflected in the commitments of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs)
and Education for All (EFA).

SlidesCarnival icons are editable shapes.

This means that you can:

● Resize them without losing quality.
● Change fill color and opacity.

Isn’t that nice? :)

Examples:
Now you can use any emoji as an icon!
And of course it resizes without losing quality and you can change the color.
