Advantages:

• Lesser Foot print - DC Converter could be placed in the radio shelter.

• No Dedicated batteries required, hence no corrosion proof equipment required in Radio
shelter
• No Ventilation system required
• No Eye wash required
• No PPEs required - again lesser foot print
Option:1 - -48V derived from AC-DC converter fed from Main AC UPS
Option:2 - Dedicated DC charger with battery bank

1) Difficult to accommodate the 48V DC batteries in the SS Battery room as,

• The Battery rack arrangement is not yet finalized and it could be a single or
multiple rack arrangement; since vendors have offered both
• DC Battery System (for 125V DC) is not yet frozen.
• C&I Battery System (for AC UPS) is not yet frozen.
• GSM Battery System (for AC UPS) is not yet frozen.

2) It would not be possible to accommodate the 48V DC batteries in the Radio

Shelter as the 2 Nos of battery bank with each dimension (1950L X 430W X
705H) could not be accommodated inside the Radio shelter and this would require
additional ventilation, space for PPE’s and other metallic equipment's inside the
Radio shelter may required to provide the enclosures as explosion proof /
corrosion proof.
Option:3 - Telecom load fed from 125V DC system (Switchgear) to 48V DC

• 125V DC to 48V DC converter required.

• 48V DC converter to be placed either in the SS or in the Radio
Shelter
• Larger battery banks (125V DC) due to 8 hour autonomy for
telecom loads
