Where is the Philippines?


The Philippines is an island off Southeast Asia in the Pacific Ocean.
It is an archipelago [a sea or stretch of water having many islands]
consisting of 7,641 islands. Of these islands only 2,000 are
inhabited. The Philippines is bordered by China, Japan, Vietnam,
Malaysia, Taiwan, Indonesia and Palau.

In the centre of the white triangle there is a sun with eight rays, each representing
a Philippine province.  Around the sun there is 3 stars each representing one of
the country's three main island groups—Luzon, Visayas  and Mindanao. A unique
feature of this flag is that if it is hanging upside down it means the country is at
war.

Adobo is a popular Filipino dish and cooking process in
the Philippines cuisine that involves meat, seafood, or vegetables marinated
in vinegar, soy sauce, garlic, and black peppercorns, which is browned in oil,
and simmered in the marinade.

• A lot of nurses come from the Philippines to work in Ireland, they
have been coming since the late 1990s.

• My First Cousin Raymond has been living in the Philippines for the
last few years with his partner and 3 daughters, Khea 11, Risa 6 and

Temperatures in the Philippines usually range between 21 °C and 32 °C.
Temperatures can differ between regions and depending on the season,
however generally January is the coolest month while May is the
warmest.

National Animal
The Carabao is the national animal of the Philippines. It symbolizes,
strength, power, efficiency, perseverance and most of all, hard work.
Carabao are incredible animals that are used for work and farming tasks,
they plough fields, carry and move heavy objects and they are even used
for transportation.
