• Uttar Pradesh has the biggest railway network
in the country with a railway density of 40km
which is double the rail density of the India
(20km) per 1,000 sq.km of area.
• By the end of 2014-15, the state has the
RAILWAYS worlds largest network containing 115,000km
of tracks over a route of 65,000km with 7,500
railway stations.
• Agriculture, cement, fertiliser, coal and
manufacturing are the major sectors and
industries served by the railways.
The states has 6 domestic airports, locates at
Agra, Allahabad, Gorakhpur, Kanpur, lucknow
and Varanasi.

• Uttar Pradesh has very fertile land and its economy is largely driven by agriculture.

• Around 65 % of the total population is dependent on Agriculture.

• According to the survey of 2014-15, approximately 165.98 lac hectare (68.7%) land is used for
cultivation.

• According to Agriculture survey 2011-12, there are 233.25 lac farmer in the state.

• In the year 2015-16, Rs. 66478.89 crores crop loan was distributed against the target of Rs.
84021.09 crores.

• In the year2016-17, Rs.73271.74 crores crop loan was distributed against the target
of Rs. 93212.60 crores.

operations in the state. The main incentives for the companies are industrial infrastructure and access to
the consumer markets of Uttar Pradesh and the National Capital Region. Most of the companies are
located in Noida and Ghaziabad

•Automobiles and auto components: One of the country’s auto-clusters is located in the Delhi-Gurgaon-
Noida-Ghaziabad region, part of which falls in western UP. A centre to provide complete homologation
services to tractors, off-road vehicles and diesel generators, set up as per Indian and global standards,
as well as driver training, is coming up at Rae Bareli in Uttar Pradesh. The centre is being set up by the
National Automotive Testing and R&D Infrastructure Project (NATRIP), for which the land acquisition is
almost complete. There will also be a centre of excellence for accident data analysis.

•IT and ITeS: The factors driving the IT and ITeS industry in the state are industrial infrastructure in
areas such as Noida and Greater Noida, proximity to Delhi, international connectivity and the talent pool.
