La palabra feligrés está originada en el latín “fili
eclesiae”, con el significado de hijo de la iglesia. Se
aplica a los que profesan la fe católica y asisten a una
parroquia, y por extensión a los fieles de otras iglesias
cristianas no católicas, aunque no es común el uso
del término feligreses, fuera del catolicismo.

Los feligreses son los miembros de una feligresía,
entendida como una subdivisión territorial de la
iglesia católica, donde las diócesis se separan,
teniendo en cada uno de esos lugares, parroquias.
Poseen iglesias bajo la autoridad de un párroco, que
cuida de los fieles, que toman el nombre de
feligreses.

Se entiende por parroquia a la ciudad, pueblo, aldea
o villa donde se instala la iglesia como construcción,
siendo los feligreses la familia religiosa que conforma
el espíritu de esa parroquia, asistiendo a ella como
refugio de su espíritu y de su fe.

La iglesia católica fue muy poderosa en la Edad
Media, en una sociedad profundamente religiosa,
donde la Iglesia trataba de evitar que los feligreses
adoptaran falsas creencias consideradas herejías,
imponiendo severísimos castigos en tales
situaciones.

importancia ya que ellas cuentan ya con una
determinada religión y es con ella con la que
