UNIT AIM This unit will require you to take responsibility for the management of your chosen area of progression after you finish this course. This unit will enable you to prepare for progression within your chosen discipline by designing your website to promote yourself to a potential program manager, vocational pathway or the world of work LEARNING OUTCOMES On successful completion of this unit you will: 1 Be able to identify progression routes 2 Be able to use knowledge, skills and understanding to progress personal ambitions through personal branding 3 Be able to assess the effectiveness of your branded website in a presentation to your colleagues THE BRIEF You have four weeks to re-design and present your website In this unit you will be exploring opportunities to develop your website for employability and progression. How can you reach that important person or organization with your website by selling the best version of yourself? HOW WILL YOU DO THIS? INVESTIGATING You will analyse your site, listing the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats When analysing your site, make a list of the areas that can be improved to make your site more attractive to your target market HOW WILL YOU DO THIS? PLANNING PART 1 Development Take the elements you’ve identified as needing improvement, and decide what needs to be fixed, changed or altered. Create a timetable in your calendar with dates of when you will complete tasks and what you expect the outcome to be. HOW WILL YOU DO THIS? PLANNING PART 2 Research You will support your improvement findings with research. Your research will demonstrate how you are going to improve your site’s areas you have identified for development. You are not expected to be a master website builder in this project, just follow the steps laid out for you in the brief and activity sheets. HOW WILL YOU DO THIS? TAKE ACTION • You will take the findings from your SWOT, investigation, planning and research and start to improve your website • Colours, fonts, videos, images, text, a landing page and introductions are all important in determining what someone thinks of your work when they enter your site. HOW WILL YOU DO THIS? REFLECT On your development On your learning The final product Keep a record of everything you are doing and a little explanation of why you are doing it. The productivity resources you have learned to use on the course should be used extensively throughout this unit HOW WILL YOU DO THIS? Present You will present your completed website to your peers, teacher and invited guests This presentation will include your reflections on your process and why you made your choices and improvements
