the redox reaction equation based on the increase

and decrease in the oxidation number correctly
4.4.4.1 Given a redox reaction equation, students can explain
the steps for equating redox reactions based on
increases and decreases in oxidation numbers
Combustion ?
Task Analysis
Step 1 Write the basic of the redox reaction equation
Example :
MnO + PbO2 → MnO4- + Pb2+
Step 2 Equate the element coefficients that experience
changes in oxidation numbers
MnO + PbO2 → MnO4- + Pb2+

Step 3 Determines the oxidation number of the element

which has decreased and increases in total.
Task Analysis
Step 4 The oxidation number that increases is multiplied by the oxidation number
that has decreased. Conversely, the oxidation number decreases multiplied
by the oxidation number decreasing. Because their number must be the
same. Therefore the number we multiply by the difference in oxidation
number will be the coefficient of the element that undergoes the oxidation or
reduction reaction.

Step 5 Calculate the number of O atoms in reactants and products

segments. Left side= 12 and right side= 8
Task Analysis
Step 6 Add H2O molecules to a segment that has fewer O atoms,
until the number of O atoms is the same as the other
segments

Step 7 Calculates the number of H atoms in reactants and products

Task Analysis
Step 8 Add H+ ions to a segment that has fewer H atoms, until the
number of H atoms is the same as the other segments

Step 9 Redox reaction that has been equalized using the oxidation
number method to be
8H+ + 2MnO + 5PbO2 → 2MnO4- + 5Pb2+ + 4H2O
