 WHAT IS A COMPUTER?
• A computer is a machine that can make almost everything you can
imagine, like playing games, listening to music, watch videos…
Computers are made of a Hardware, is the physical part of the computer,
and a Software, that are the amount of systems, codes or that we use to
make the hardware to run, that means you can have a computer made
up, but without the operative system you can’t do anything. Today I’m
going to talk about the hardware.
 MAIN PARTS THE
MOTHERBOARD
• The motherboard: Is the part where you need to plug everything and it’s
like the brain of the computer. There you need to put there the rest of the
parts mentioned.
 THE RAM
• The RAM, is the memory that with the
processor synthesizes all the data, it
also makes to move the data to the
hard disk drive. There are many
types, the most common are: DDR2,
DDR3, DDR4, and all that types in
SODIMMN mode, first ones are for PCs
and the second mentioned are for
laptops, because of its reduced space.
The amount of memory is measured
in GB. It means Random Access
Memory.
 THE POWER SOURCE
• The Power source, is the part of the
computer that transforms the
electricity from the house, to the only
needed by the different parts of the
computer, you need to choose one
power source or another depending
on the power needed by the rest of
the parts. The power is measured in
Watts.
 THE PROCESSOR
• The processor, like it name says is the
part that processes all the data, every
kind of data passes to the processor,
then to the RAM and finally to the
hard disk drive. The processor is more
powerful when more Ghzs it has, the
regular ones have between 2,4 and 4
Ghz.
 HARD DISK
• The hard disk drive is the part where all
the data is stored, there are two types:
HDD and SSD, the first one means Hard
Disk Drive, and the second one means
Solid State Drive, the difference
between them is that the HDD, it is
based in a system made by two plates
and a needle with a magnet that
creates or destroy data, and the SSD, is
only made of a memory, like pen
drives, it doesn’t have mechanical
parts, the SSD is more expensive, but
the speed is three time better.
 BOX
• The box is the part where you put
every part of the computer.
 THE PERIPHERALS
• The peripherals, are the parts that you out
outside the computer: the mouse and the
keyboard, it can also be a pendrive. The
monitor is also another peripheral.
 OTHER PARTS GRAPHIC CARD
• It is not as important as the other parts of the computer, but if you want
to play in the computer is a part that you can’t forget.
 FANS
• if you want a computer that can last
years, you must put fans inside the
computer, because the parts produce
too much heat and it is important to
remove it to have a perfect working.
 HEAT DISSIPATOR
• is with the fan another part to
refrigerate the computer.
 LIQUID REFRIGERATOR
• You can replace the fans and the heat
dissipator and put the liquid
refrigerator, it’s is more expensive but
it has better results.
 SOME TIPS TO MAKE YOUR PC
TO LAST MORE
• Put more fans if you can
• Open it at least once a year and
remove the dust storage, a computer
can have too much dust in the fans,
and heat dissipators.
• If you can buy a RAM, and add it to
your computer to have more speed.
• Replace your old HDD to a new SSD, a
SSD of 250GB costs around the 100€.
