 Background
 DIVE GROUP has been diving in buddy teams.
Rescue - Open Water Rescue Scenario Three

 Everyone has been having a good time, with


DIVEMASTER generally looking things over.
 All the buddy teams have returned, except one.
 Suddenly DIVER 1 surfaces and yells, “I’ve lost
DIVER 2! Has anybody seen DIVER 2?” No one has.

 Set Up
 Begin the scenario with DIVER 1 on the surface.

 Continue the scenario until you find, surface and take


the initial steps on the surface for DIVER 2, until you
are asked to stop, or until you reach the assigned
time/depth/air supply limits.

By the end of this rescue scenario, you should be

able to:
1. As part of a team or as an individual, efficiently
search for and locate a simulated missing diver.
2. As part of a team or as an individual, surface a
simulated unresponsive diver found on the
bottom by using a controlled ascent while
keeping the victim’s airway open.

 Open Water Rescue Scenario Three Standards
 Conducted in open water.
Rescue - Open Water Rescue Scenario Three

 Minimum depth is water too deep to stand up in.


 Maximum depth is 9 metres/30 feet.
 Use normal and accepted gear for the local diving
environment.
 Also use pocket masks, lines, floats, marker buoys, a first
aid kit, an emergency oxygen kit and any other pieces of
equipment necessary to complete the scenario.
