number of Rs. 125 shares he buys; iii) The change in his annual income from dividend.
Q-14 Michael buys shares of face value $ 50 of a company which pays 10 % dividend. At what price did

5. When a polynomial f(x) is divided by (x – 1), the remainder is 5 and when it is,, divided by (x – 2),

6. Find the value of x which satisfies the inequation:

Find three smallest consecutive natural numbers such that the difference between one-third of the
largest and one-fifth of the smallest is at least 3.

• An employer finds that if he increased the weekly wages of each worker by Rs 5 and employs five
workers less, he increases his weekly wage bill from Rs 3,150 to Rs 3,250. Taking the original weekly
wage of each worker as Rs x; obtain an equation in x and then solve it to find the weekly wages of
each worker.
• The expression 2x3 + ax2 + bx - 2 leaves remainder 7 and 0 when divided by 2x - 3 and x + 2
respectively. Calculate the values of a and b.
• If (x - 2) is a factor of the expression 2x 3 + ax2 + bx - 14 and when the expression is divided by (x - 3), it
leaves a remainder 52, find the values of a and b
