THE

ENVIRONMENT
More and more people are getting worried
about environmental problems nowadays. For
more than fifty years human being has become
concerned about the Earth’s problems.
At the beginning of the 20thcentury pollution of
the Earth began an important issue.
WATER
Water pollution is a major global problem which requires on
going evaluation and revision of water resource policy at all levels.
Water is polluted because people throw different objects like plastic
bottles or poisonous objects in rivers or in lakes and they pour oils
and industrial waste. The acid rain is also a cause of the water
pollution.
SOIL
Soil contamination is caused by the presence of the human-made
chemicals or other alteration in the natural soil environment. It is
typically caused by industrial activity, agricultural chemicals,
improper disposal of waste and the acid rain.
The most common chemicals involved are petroleum
hydrocarbons(naphthalene),solvents, pesticides, lead and other heavy
metals .
AIR
Air pollution is caused by emission of chemicals,
biological materials, or other harmful materials into the
atmosphere, possibly causing disease, death to humans
or damage to other living organisms.
Air pollution is a problem everywhere in the world.
Local air pollution usually affects big cities where there
are factories and traffic.
The 10 most polluted places in the world
1. Chernobyl, Ukraine 7. Vapi, India
2. Citarum River, Indonesia 8. Norilsk, Russia
3. Niger River Delta, Nigeria 9. Kalimantan, Indonesia
4. Linfen, China 10. Kanpur, India
5. Kabwe, Zambia
6. La Oroya, Peru
Effects of Pollution

1.Human Health : The decrease in quality of air leads to

several respiratory problems including asthma or lung
cancer.
2. Infertile Land : Because of constant use of insecticides and
pesticides, the soil may become infertile and plants may not
be able to grow properly.
3. Global Warming :  The emission of greenhouse gases
particularly CO2 is leading to global warming.
4. Ozone Layer Depletion: Ozone layer is the thin shield high
up in the sky that stops ultra violet rays from reaching the
earth.
From my point of view, we- the young generation-
have to help nature return to what it used to be before
by organising school projects or ecological action
against pollution and cutting trees and recycle the
paper or others objects.
