secondary memory, and practical concept in using MS Access Office which is
important in our course time.
Course Objectives
– The aims of this course are to
– Familiarize you with the basic concepts underlying a DBMS
– Show how they are realized in specific systems
– Give you some hands-on experience in using a DBMS
Course Description
– This course is designed o be able to use Database Management Systems
(DBMS’s) successfully, one has to understand the concepts on which they are
based.
– A DBMS makes it possible for end users to create, read, update and
delete data in a database. The DBMS essentially serves as an interface between
the database and end users or application program, ensuring that data is
consistently organized and remains easily accessible.
Detailed Course Content
– Introduction Database Concepts
– The Entity Relationship Model (the most common approach to conceptual database
design)
– The Relational Data Model –Relations –Integrity Constraints (keys, foreign keys, etc.)
– Logical Database Design (ER to relational schemas)
– SQL: Querying and Manipulating Data –SQL Data Definition Language
– Storage and File Structure
– DBMS Backup and Recovery
– Transaction Management and Concurrency Control
DBMS and
Telecommunication Industry
– Any telecommunication company cannot even think about their business
without DBMS. DBMS is must for these companies to store the call details and
monthly post paid bills.
– There is a database to keeps track of the information regarding calls made,
