Workers?
Medical English,
English for Medical
Professionals, or
English for Nurses or
English for Doctors,
now starting to develop
and are sought after by
students and health NEXT
workers
• This is due to the rapid increasethe era of globalization
and competition in getting decent jobs in the medical
world

• In this globalization era, almost all products and services

use English for their promotion and without exception in
the medical field.

• The growing development of tourism or tourism in

Indonesia makes more and more foreigners on holiday
scattered throughout the territory of Indonesia. They
rarely speak Indonesian but at least speak
English(although not all - depends on the country of
origin). The tourists are on their holidays sometimes
because for one reason or another requires medical
assistance both in clinics and hospitals.

CONSTRAIN
The obstacle is the inability of these
medical personnel to speak English
adequately making there a lack of good
communication between tourists as patients
and medical personnel as providers of
medical services. So that they tend to
communicate in English improvised or
even sign language that "gratitude can be
mutually understood". However, if a
misinterpretation will result in complaints
or mistakes that can be fatal for both
parties. For this reason the ability to discuss
medical English is needed.
4
Medical staff must understand English
well because our medical or medical
science is oriented towards the western
world. Where all the original textbooks
were made there and "certainly speak
English". But we tend to use references
from our lecturers only or look for
books that have been translated so we
don't want to develop our English
language skills.

5
In the competitive world of work in the area of
health, English language skills also play an
important role especially if we want to work in
hospitals with a standard or middle level and above
or who serve patients who speak foreign languages.
Ironically, medical English is not yet an absolute
curriculum in some medical faculties or several study
programs in the health sector in Indonesia. Or there are
already but only a few semesters. This causes students or
medical staff who have finished school (with little ability
in English) to experience difficulties in competing in the
workforce, let alone thinking of working abroad
