Introduction

•Solar power plants need to be monitored for optimum

power output. This helps retrieve efficient power output
from power plants while monitoring for faulty solar panels.

•Here we propose an automated IOT based solar power

monitoring system that allows for automated solar power
monitoring from anywhere over the internet.

•it constantly monitors the solar panel

and transmits the power output to IOT system over the
internet.
Contd.,

•Here we use IOT Thingspeak to transmit solar

power parameters over the internet to IOT
Thing speak server.

•It now displays these parameters to the user

using an effective GUI( graphical user
interface) and also alerts user when the output
falls below specific limits.

•This makes remotely monitoring of solar

plants very easy and ensures best power output.
Problem Statement

A major concern surrounding solar power is the variability and

predictability of sun light. If it is over cost or cloud cover
present during the day, then the photovoltaic cells are unable
to produce electricity, or will do so inefficiently .

This inherent variability poses issues with grid reliability and

the expenses associated with operating the solar units .
Moreover ,peak electricity demand usually occurs when it is
dark out side, when solar production is zero.

All of these factors make it difficult to predict the photovoltaic

output of solar panles, and photovoltaic is a method used to
adderess this issues.
Objectives

The main objective is to power of the system can be monitor using the sensors
sensed by the arduino. The monitor of the solar energy system shows the power
and energy usage. This system helps to implement in smart grid for efficient
usage.
Literature Survey 1:
Title: Design and implementation of a renewable energy monitoring system
Authors: Kabalci, Ersan, Alper Gorgun, Yasin Kabalci

Description:
it is an instant monitoring infrastructure of a renewable energy generation
system that is constituted with a wind turbine and solar panel arrays. The
related values are measured with the developed sensing circuits and
processed by an 18F4450 microcontroller of Microchip. The processed
parameters are then transmitted to a personal computer (PC) over universal
serial bus (USB) to be saved in a database and to observe the system
instantly.
Limitations:
It limits with in a certain area. Because in this method of monitoring
uses a USB for data transmission.
Literature Survey 2:
Title: Development of Android based on
line monitoring and control system for Renewable Energy
Sources
Authors: Jiju K. et. al

Description:
Development of an online monitoring and control system for distributed
Renewable Energy Sources (RES) based on Android platform. This method
utilizes the Bluetooth interface of Android Tablet of Mobile phone, as a
communication link for data exchange with digital hardware of power
Conditioning Unit.
Limitations:
Bluetooth as a technology comes with a few disadvantages, including
slow data speeds, poor data security and shortened battery life. Bluetooth's
low-power design limits its data communications speed.
Literature Survey 3:
Title: Integrated management and remote monitoring system for
telecommunications power plants with fully DC-powered center equipment.
Author:Goto, Yoshihiro, et al

Description:
Explained about an integrated system that manages and
remotely monitors telecommunications power plants has been
developed and has started operations. Features of the system are the
integrate the management and remote monitoring functions, into
one system and improved user interfaces, which use information
and communication technology such as web technology.
Limitations:
It cannot stored the sensed data. It is used for monitoring
purpose only.
Proposed method:

 The proposed system is for monitoring and predicting the output of solar
energy using IOT. Solar panel helps to store the energy .
 Smart meter which includes the sensors such as volatage, current, Pressure,
temperature and humidity sensores connected to the Arduino. Those values
will be noted and given to the Thingspeak through the wifi module and
those values are simulated by Using matlab and the predicted values will
be shown in thingspeak as a graphical representation
Requirements:

•Solar panel
• Voltage sensor
•Current sensor
•Temperature sensor
•Humidity sensor
•Pressure sensor
•Arduino
•Power supply
•Wi-Fi module
•Liquid Crystal Display
Block Diagram:
Advantages:

 Enables the efficient use of renewable energy

 Environment free
 Requires the little maintenance for their Application
 Cost effective
Disadvantages:

 The batteries used to store solar power are huge sized.

 The batteries need to be replaced from time to time.
 The solar energy can be harnessed in a limited period.
Applications:

• Educational Institutions
• Industrial applications
• Residential applications
Conclusion and Future Scope

Implementing Renewable Energy technologies is one

recommended way of reducing the environmental impact.

Monitoring guides the user in analysis of renewable energy usage.

This enables the efficient use of renewable energy. Thus it is

reducing the electricity issues.

This project can be further enhanced by using the results of this

current project i.e., the monitoring values obtained are helpful in
predicting the future values of parameters considered.

The web app can be developed for interaction with the end user to
predict the values for future events.

During prediction two or more models can be used for same data
set, to find the accuracy of each model.
