Types Of Plastic

By Qusai and ….. Galal I mean Mohammad

The Types Of Plastic
There are seven types of plastic

The seven types of plastic include:

Polyethylene Terephthalate (PETE or PET)

High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE)

Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC)

Low-Density Polyethylene (LDPE)

Polypropylene (PP)

Polystyrene or Styrofoam (PS)

Miscellaneous plastics (includes: polycarbonate, polylactide, acrylic, ETC)

Properties of plastic

Polyethylene polypropylene Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene

What Is Plastic ?

First things first, before anything else the first question we need to ask
before continuing with our presentation is “What is Plastic". Plastic is a
material consisting of any wide range of synthetic or semi-
synthetic organic compounds that are malleable and so can
be molded into solid objects.

Synthetic, Something made of artificial material, not natural items, can be described as synthetic.

Adj : Synthetic usually describes things created by chemical synthesis.

Semi-synthetic, Produced by chemical alteration of a natural starting material.

The History Of Plastic
Here's a brief overview for those not knowledgeable in “The history of plastic”. The first kind of
artificial plastic called Parkesine was created in 1856 by the English chemist Alexander Parkes.
In 1862 at the International Exhibition of London and in 1867 at the Exposition Universelle of
Paris he showed a series of objects made of this semisynthetic resin which recalled ivory.
The appearance of a new material, the Bakelite, overshadowed the success of the first artificial
plastic materials. This new material will dominate the world of plastic for half a century.
Bakelite was invented by the Belgian chemist Leo Hendrik Baekeland in 1907.
.

Parkesine is a compound, originally made from gun cotton and castor oil
