HELD?
The march is called for more accountability for violence against
women, and to support for women who experience violence and
harassment at the hands of security forces, in public spaces, at home,
and at the workplace.[ Reports suggest that more and more women
rushed to join the march until the crowd was became scattered.
Women (as well as men) carried posters bearing phrases such as ‘Ghar
ka Kaam, Sab ka Kaam’, and ‘Women are humans, not honour’ became
a rallying cry.

For any movement to succeed, the organizers must know where it is headed and to whom is
it directed. Aurat March, for instance, is directed fore mostly to the policy makers of
government, the NGOs who are working for women empowerment, and lastly to the general
public of Pakistan. If the target audience is mingled and not correctly directed to, the
movement can be easily hindered. As is the case with Aurat March. People actively involved
in organizing Aurat March are more concerned about the responses of general public than
that of policy makers. This causes them to divert from their original motive and focus more
in garnering support of the public. To counter this problem, they must change their plan of
approach. Organizers must start off by forming allies with NGOs who are willing to support
them, and then address the policy makers with all their demands. Not just that, to fasten up
the entire process they must also have a plan of action to provide the policy makers so that
they have a well-defined agenda and their work load could be cut off.
