REVIEW OF THE PAST LESSON
What did we discuss last time?

Any insights from our past discussion?

What enables these things to
exist or for these activities to
take place?
ENERGY – capacity/ability
to do work
What are the different
forms of energy?
ACTIVITY NO.1 – MATCHING
TYPE
EVERYONE CAN PARTICIPATE!
Pictures are posted on the board. Forms of
energy and their definitions will be flashed
on the screen. Volunteers can go to the
board and write the name of the form of
energy under the appropriate picture.
Electrical Energy
is delivered by tiny charged
particles called electrons,
typically moving through a
wire.
Chemical Energy
is energy stored in the bonds of
atoms and molecules. Batteries,
petroleum, and coal and even in
the food that we eat, stores
chemical energy.
Motion Energy
is energy stored in the
movement of objects. The
faster they move, the more
energy they have.
Radiant Energy
is electromagnetic energy that
travels in transverse waves.
Radiant energy includes visible
light, x-rays, gamma rays and
radio waves.
Elastic Potential Energy
is energy stored in stretched
or compressed elastic
materials.
Gravitational Energy
is energy stored in an object's
height. The higher and
heavier the object, the more
gravitational energy is stored.
Nuclear Energy
is energy stored in the nucleus
of an atom. Very large amounts
of energy can be released when
the nuclei are combined or split
apart. Ex. nuclear power plants
Thermal Energy
or heat, is the vibration and
movement of the atoms and
molecules within substances.
Sound
is the movement of energy
through substances in
longitudinal waves; produced
when object or substance
vibrate transferring the energy.
Energy is the capacity to do
work.
Mechanical Energy
energy that is used and/or
acquired by an object upon
doing work.
Mechanical Energy
It is divided into two types:
1. Potential
2. Kinetic
Mechanical Energy
1. Potential - energy that is
associated with the
arrangement of an object’s
parts; its composition,
location and structure.
Mechanical Energy
1. Potential - stored energy
with the potential to do
work.
Mechanical Energy
2. Kinetic - is the energy
possessed by moving
objects or wave; it is related
with the object’s velocity.
ACTIVITY NO. 2 – MAKE ME A
TABLE

GROUP ACTIVITY
For each of the groups, construct a table with two
columns, one for potential and one for kinetic. Sort
the different forms of energy into their correct
type.
(Choose one representative to present your output)

in our daily life?
APPLICATION
EVALUATION
In a ¼ sheet of paper, list 1
potential energy and 1 kinetic
energy and describe each.

Reminder on CLASSROOM RULES!

GAME: PASS THE MESSAGE
As a review of the past lesson; we will play PASS THE MESSAGE!
• Five volunteers per group will be needed
• They will have to fall in line.
• The first in the line will be asked
by the teacher.
• The answer or the question shall
passed/whispered to the next.
• The last student on the line will
have to run to the board and
write the answer.
QUESTION NO 1.
It is defined as the capacity to do work;
something that objects posses or use to
perform different activities.

ANSWER: ENERGY
QUESTION NO 2.
It is stored in objects that can be compressed
or stretched.

ANSWER: ELASTIC POTENTIAL ENERGY

QUESTION NO 3.
It is the energy that is associated with the
movement of charged particles as in a wire.

ANSWER: ELECTRICAL ENERGY

QUESTION NO 4.
It is the type of energy that is based on the
arrangement of the parts of an object, its
composition, location or structure. Stored
energy.

ANSWER: POTENTIAL ENERGY

QUESTION NO 5.
It is energy that is stored in the chemical
bonds in atoms and molecules of objects.
Batteries, petroleum and the food that we
eat possesses this energy.

ANSWER: CHEMICAL ENERGY

What are the different forms of energy
that you used or acquire in the game?

Where did this energy come from?

Can energy come from nothing?

LAW OF CONSERVATION OF
ENERGY
It states that energy can neither be
created nor destroyed
It is only being transferred from one
object to another or transformed
from one form to another.

ACTIVITY: ENERGY
TRANSFORMATION
• Each group will be assigned with an object.
• On a manila paper, you will have to draw the object assigned.
• In the format given below; identify the forms of energy present in the
object and how energy is being transformed. (15 MINUTES)

ACTIVITY TAKE-AWAY
Energy cannot be created from nothing
nor transformed into nothing. It can only
be transferred from one object to
another or transformed from one form
to another.
APPLICATION
How can we apply this in real life?

At home?
In the our meals?
In sports?
APPLICATION
Why is it important for us to know where
the energy that we are using come from?
EVALUATION
Complete the diagram below. Identify the energies present in the given
and how they are transformed from one form to another.
