TAMAN MINI INDONESIA INDAH (Beautiful Indonesia in Miniature Park)

Indonesia is the largest archipelago in the world since it has around 18,330 islands. This
widespread archipelago country has much to offer from natural beauty, historical heritage to
cultural diversity and this create potential Tourism industry in Indonesia with many tourism places.
During 2016 about 12.02 million foreign tourists visited Indonesia. The top five sources of visitors
to Indonesia are Singapore, Malaysia, China, Australia, and Japan. By 2019, the Indonesian
government wants to have the number of visitors about 20 million. The tourism sector ranked as
the 4th largest among goods and services export sectors.

Visiting the beautiful Indonesia need much cost and lots of time spending. Therefore by the idea of
late Indonesian first lady, madame Tien Suharto to build Beautiful Indonesia in Miniature Park
(TMII), we can visit Indonesia magnificent archipelago in short time, even in one day. Indonesian
student can get most benefit from the short visit to TMII. TMII is a recreational area located
in East Jakarta, Indonesia. It has an area of about 250 acres (1.0 km2). Indonesia now consist of 34
provinces, currently the new province pavilions of Bangka Belitung, Banten, West Sulawesi, North
Maluku, Gorontalo, Riau Islands, and West Papua is being built in northeast part of the park. Also
there is an artificial lake with an interesting miniature of the archipelago in the middle of it, and
we can view this archipelago from the cable car.

TMII attempts to recreate the homes of the various provinces as pavilions and also design a
realistic model of the environment and shelters of the various people of Indonesia. The pavilion of
each province is representative of the traditional architectural style in miniature. Also display
wonderful cultural items and exhibits .Examples of Indonesian traditional houses (Rumah Adat)
such as Joglo and Omah Kudus from Central Java and Yogyakarta, Rumah Gadang from West
Sumatra and Tongkonan from Toraja, South Sulawesi.

TMII also has its own orchid garden in which hundreds of Indonesian orchid varieties are grown.
Other show that children will like are a bird park with a walk-in aviary, a fauna museum and
recreational grounds with a swimming pool and restaurants. A decorated building in Balinese
architecture is Museum Indonesia which shows contemporary arts, crafts and traditional costumes
from the different regions of the country. Cultural performances, events, and even local delicacies
from the provinces are prepared regularly, especially during weekends and holidays, to show
Indonesia's rich cultural heritage. The park is open seven days a week, giving guests ample time to
explore and enjoy the sights. And if a day tour is not enough, visitors can spend the night at the
'Desa Wisata' or 'Wisata Remaja' serviced accommodations.
