1. In a box are 2 balls, one red and one blue. Two balls
are picked one at a time with replacement. Let X be
the number of times the red balls are drawn.
Construct the probability distribution for this
experiment. Draw the probability histogram.

This distribution can be used to answer the following questions.
1. How likely is it that the next customer will buy just one hotdog?
SOLUTION:
From the table, we have P(X=1) = 0.47 or 47%
2. Out of 500 customers, how many are expected to buy more than 3
hotdogs?
SOLUTION:
P(X > 3) = P(X = 4) + P(X = 5) + P(X = 6)
= 0.07 + 0.02 + 0.01
= 0.10 or 10%
Out of 500 customers, 10% are expected to buy more than 3
hotdogs.
500 x 0.10 = 50
Essential Question
The table below shows the number of goals scored by Team Pinoy in the 20 games of
the season. Let X be the number of goals scored in every game.
Number Number 1. Construct the discrete probability distribution for the
of goals of games given random variables.
scored
2. What is the probability that if a random game is chosen,
0 5 then the team scored 2 goals in that game?
1 7 3. What is the probability that the team scored more than 3
2 3 goals?
3 3 4. What is the probability that the team did not score any
4 1 goal?
