WHAT IS A.I
Artificial intelligence (A.I) refers to the simulation of human
intelligence in machines that are programmed to think like humans
and mimic their actions. The term may also be applied to any
machine that exhibits traits associated with a human mind such as
learning and problem-solving.

CASE STUDY :
MYBUCKS/HARAKA
MyBucks is a Luxembourg-based fintech that owns
several banks and provides loans and basic banking
products in seven African countries, Poland and Spain;
it’s expanding rapidly into other countries.
U.S. regulators have signalled a willingness to accept
banks’ use of AI in lending. And the evidence so far, at
least in MyBucks’ case, shows that AI can improve credit
quality and reduce defaults.

HOW THE APP WORKS
MyBucks’ Haraka app, which is now offered in Zimbabwe, Uganda,
Swaziland and Kenya, and in early 2018 is expected to be
introduced in the Philippines and India, can score a customer within
two minutes. The customer downloads the app from the Android store;
MyBucks pays for that download through reverse billing, so even
customers who are broke can still access the app. The app then asks
for permission to scrape the phone for data, including text messages,
call-history patterns and geolocation information.

A.I BEHIND THE APP, “TESS”
TESS is a ground-breaking conversational AI system developed from
first principles in the MyBucks AI and Innovation Lab. It’s capable of
navigating a website, answering questions and directing you to an
appropriate section within its pages most relevant to your question
visitors can access abridged income statements, balance sheets and
ratios, and will even refer visitors to necessary financial information,
heightening transparency as she does. It’s a part of redefining the
future of websites and a way for companies to make their information
more transparent and easily accessible
