 Traffic Volume Count
This survey is conducted to understand the traffic characteristics in term
of average daily traffic, traffic composition, peak hour traffic and
directional split at individual survey locations. This survey is carried out
for following reasons,

 Direction Distribution
 Traffic Composition
 Annual Average Daily Traffic (AADT)
 Turning Movement Count
Objective of intersection Turing movement survey is to assess the traffic
flow and delay characteristics on individual arms at the intersection. Data
collected from these surveys is used for preparation of geometric
improvement plans for critical intersection under the immediate
improvement plan and short term measure.
 Origin & Destination Survey
O-D surveys provide a detailed picture of the trip patterns and travel
choices of road commuters. These surveys collect valuable data
related to households, individuals, goods carriers and trips too. This
information allows stakeholders to understand travel patterns and
characteristics. This survey provides valuable and reliable information
on current conditions and local travel.
 Axle Load Survey
Axle load survey provides invaluable and essential information so as to
analyse the design of the pavement and preservation of the existing
roads. In order to estimate vehicle-loading spectrum in the Project
Area, and in turn to determine vehicle damage factor for the
commercial vehicles.
 Road Inventory
An inventory of all major roads within the study area will be carried
out to obtain the existing road network characteristics. The data
collected will include the cross- sectional details, right of way,
carriageway widths, length of the sections, predominant land use
along the links, type of street lighting, road signs and markings,
surface conditions etc.
 Structures Inventory
A visual inspection of existing structures on the project section
was carried out and detailed assessment and condition of the
each and every structure has been given in the following sections
with appropriate pictures showing the condition of the structure.
 Household Survey
The survey is mainly intended to yield data pattern and
socio-economic characteristics of the households influencing the
trip making behavior. The survey is the most reliable way of
obtaining the information on origin-destination of resident
population of the study area. Mode wise details as per
purpose, journey time, frequency, fare paid, vehicle ownership
etc. together with data related to demographic and socio-
economic aspects will be collected. The opinion survey of
residents about different modes and fare sensitivity will also be
included in the household survey.
