What is ABS?

• Helps prevent wheel-locking under

sudden application of brakes

• Maintains traction with the road

surface

• Modulates the pressure on the brake

system and decreases stopping
distances in low friction conditions
Why ABS?

• Wheel locking is a major cause of

accidents – especially in low friction
condition

• As per CMVR Regulation in India from

1st April 2019, all vehicles above 125cc
shall be fitted with ABS as mandatory

How does ABS work?
Types Of ABS

Applies to any one of the wheels, generally front wheel -

Single Channel ABS for effective braking the front brakes are considered more
important

Applies to both the wheels unlike single channel ABS,

Dual Channel ABS leading to better braking efficiency
Which ABS type do we
provide at Royal Enfield?
Dual Channel ABS

• Has two separate braking circuits

with independent sensors for each
wheel

• Allows for ABS modulation of both the

wheels

• Offers better braking performance

compared to Single channel ABS

FAQs

We have already booked the motorcycle. Why should we pay additional

for ABS?

• As per CMVR Regulation in India from 1st April 2019, all vehicles
above 125cc shall be fitted with ABS as mandatory. Royal Enfield is
launching ABS equipped motorcycles ahead of schedule keeping
rider safety in mind.

• Royal Enfield offers Dual Channel ABS in its motorcycles for

enhanced safety.
FAQs

Can I put ABS module in my existing Non-ABS RE motorcycle?

• As a manufacturer we do not recommend this. The ABS system has to

be calibrated accurately as per OE conditions.
FAQs

The ABS system is expensive to maintain?

• The ABS system is a fit for lifetime system. No additional

maintenance cost is incurred in comparison to non-ABS vehicles.
